Novi Pazar in Sandžak. This region was part of Turkey for a long time (Sandžak means province) and belongs to Serbia since 1912. The inhabitants are mostly Muslim, but the region with its orthodox monastery is part of the historical center of Serbia. Many inhabitants moved to Turkey before and after the second world war. Even today, the personal and economic links to Turkey are very strong.
